Under the Project’s regulatory harmonisation component, a harmonised framework for the registration of biopesticides in the SADC region has been developed. The proposed event seeks to provide training on the application of these biopesticide registration guidelines; and will include regulators, policymakers, industry representatives and extension service officials from the 6 participating project countries (Botswana, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe). In addition to this, training on functional capacity development (or “soft skills) will be provided. The project’s intention is that the participants would not only commit to engaging in the group discussion, but will also be expected to (co)organise a similar training event back in their home country in order to transfer the knowledge and skills gained through this training onto others.
